Biography
For his dissertation, parapsychology graduate student Eugene Pence proposed that a person could achieve self-hypnosis by means of lucid dreaming, and through this technique implant the post-hypnotic suggestion of having the power of hypnosis (along with other mind-related powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, and total recall), thereby actually achieving those powers in the waking state. In other words, bootstrapping psychic powers by hypnotizing yourself to believe you have them. After years of research, and months documenting his own efforts, he succeeded in applying this technique to himself -- then used the powers on his faculty advisors, immediately granting himself both his Ph.D and a tenured faculty position.
His main research focus is in applied telepathic coercion. Students can "attend" his telepathic lecture courses, such as "The Id: Care and Feeding," "Metameditation 101," or "Mental Bifurcation and You and You." He grades them immediately, based on their actual knowledge absorption. He keeps regular office hours on Wednesdays and Fridays -- at least you'll be convinced he was there if you stop by.
