Personality
Professor Perry is an anachronism in a literal sense and, as such, follows antiquated customs and practices that have not yet seen enlightenment. Though always meaning well, he often finds himself inadvertently offending someone by casual observance of what is now considered racist, sexist and homophobic behavior. He never seems to stop apologizing.
In spite of all that, he maintains his insatiable curiosity about the sciences and the way things work. He is often engrossed by the utter fascination he has for the mundane wonders of the modern world and sometimes needs to be brought out of his analytical catatonia in order to keep moving apace.

Due to the unfortunate mishap involving the explosion of the Klein-Tesla-Swami bottle and being momentarily sidestepped into the spirit world, Doctor Perilous has the unexplained ability to manifest and manipulate solid aether, the very substance that comprises the soul. As no one in the vicinity is hurt (living or spectral) when he wields this terrifying power, he has been led to believe that it isn't the souls of the living that he bends to his will but possibly the discarded fragments of souls that comprise the universe or pure soulmatter from an elemental plane.
