Biography
Of all the private dicks in The City, she had to walk through my door. Of course there was a dame. There's always a dame. I knew from the start that she was a bad egg but I let her in anyway. Wasn't about to get poached by some other P.I.
"Are you Oliver Vum?", her voice was a whisper cracking with caution, a cat stalking her prey within the cigar smoke jungle of my office.
"Depends who's asking, sweetheart." I whisked my feet off of the floor, propping them onto my desk cool as you please. Wasn't about to go over easy. "Whaddya need?"
"I need you to find my husband!", she sobbed. A shell broke, unleashing the waterworks. She was good. Oh, she was good. Those tears seemed real but like those dainty, long lashes and the payment she'd say was coming, I knew they weren't. But I wanted to see where this would take me, anyway. I didn't count on this getting me into any serious hot water.
Yet I here I am now with more questions than answers.
Confused. Scrambled.
And with an odd salty taste in my mouth.

Typical untrusting detective living in a noir world despite the world itself not being very noir at all. He also doesn't get technology much.

Cigar Smoke Tricks
Ollie has the uncanny ability to manipulate the smoke that comes from his cigar to great effect. It defies logic. So, then, is it magic? Some sort of mutant power? Who knows? When asked, Detective Vum merely shrugs his shoulders and say, "I've been smoking stogies forever, kid. I thought everybody and their dog could do that."

Being in the PI business as long as he has, Ollie is smart enough to know that he should always be packing heat. And he's smart enough that he does it twice.
