Biography
Diagnosed with a rare cardiac sarcoma, Angie didn't know what to do. She had seen her mother battle cancer, how the treatments shriveled her body and robbed her of a happy ending. The prognosis was not good. She had half a year at most -- and even that required a level of optimism that never came naturally to Angie.
When she shared the news with her boyfriend, he was shellshocked and distant. She dumped him on the spot to spare him the pain of watching her die. He said nothing, but his eyes were full of gratitude. Angie had never felt so devastated and alone.
Yet the doctors had no way to know that the tumor cells themselves included a rather singular genetic mutation. The tumor generates radiation, effectively killing the cancerous cells that spread through her body. The mutation also grants her empathetic healing powers, which continually heal the radiation damage.
Now she's learned to use her powers to help others. It gives her a sense of purpose. This is who she is now, she's not looking back.

Personality
Heartsick is a passionate and dedicated hero. She is comfortable with righteous anger, and channels it effectively, even while her pity for the helpless and love for her friends is running full steam. She is not above vengeful grudges. She can be a bit reckless, but her courage is unsurpassed.
Powers
Heartsick can fortify and heal her allies by the power of her empathy for them. She also emits damaging radiation from her hands and eyes.

Created for a themed SG of "offender"-built Empaths which has since fallen into disuse. This was before the Emos?, otherwise I might have used this character concept for that. But I like her better as a hardened badass anyway. Her personality is not emo at all.
