Biography
Bobby Deane was studying to be the next great nuclear physicist. Late nights in the lab were the norm. One night, tired but determined to get a problem solved, his sleep-deprived brain forgot to make sure all safety locks were in place before he threw the switch and started the reactor. The resulting radiation washed over him, shifting his cells and infusing his flesh with the unbridled power of the atom.
He was confined for weeks to a containment unit before he was able to get someone to take the control rods from the now-defunct reactor and forge them into chains to contain his energies.

Personality
Deane has never lost his spirit of adventure, the drive to learn and to discover. This is reflected in his curiosity, and his sometime slightly reckless attitude when encountering new things.
Powers
The atomic power inside him is only held in check by the chains he keeps wrapped himself. With their control, he's learned to focus his power into new and useful ways. His natural personality rubs off on his teammates.
